FCA Hosts A.C.E. Teachers' Training
During the week of July 20-23, 2010, Faith Baptist Church and Academy hosted a Teachers’ Training
week sponsored by Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.). Each year A.C.E. conducts regional training weeks throughout the United States. The July session drew educator’s
from Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi. This year's event is the fourth year Faith Christian Academy (FCA) staff has hosted the sessions.
The Tuesday through Friday series started each day at 8:00 a.m. and ended about 5:15 p.m. The courses offered included subjects areas such as: school operations, leadership skills, dealing with parents, a Biblically-based philosophy of education, operating a quality Learning Center, and more.
A.C.E. Field Representative, Kermit Northcutt, was assisted by his wife. Mrs. Linda Potts, who taught at Faith Christian Academy for twenty-four years, assisted in the Learning Center as teachers in training experienced the student environment. Mrs. Virginia Hill, who has taught the A.C.E. learning to read program across some thirty years,presented a seminar session on how to use the ABC's with Ace and Christi program.
A.C.E., which started in 1970, publishes educational curriculum used in over 7,000 Christian schools in 130 countries around the world. In addition, it is one of the world's largest suppliers of materials to home schools.
Faith Christian Academy started in 1979 and is currently in its 32nd consecutive year and holds an A.C.E. approved "Model School" status. FCA is a member of the Mississippi Association of Christian Schools and the American Association of Christian Schools.
