In International Convention

Students from Faith Christian Academy in Water Valley recently
participated in international competition at the University of Virginia
in Charlottesville, Virginia. The International Student Convention,
held from May 27 to June 1, is an annual event sponsored by Accelerated
Christian Education. The event is attended by 4000 plus students from
over 120 nations. The convention features competition in over 170 areas
including academics, athletics, arts and crafts, music, public speaking,
and photography.

Students from Faith Christian Academy who were selected to attend were
Leigh Rounsaville, Upton Reynolds, Brandy Traylor, Jennifer Azbell,
April Standard, and Nikki Schurr. Each student was required to place
during a region-wide competition, conducted in Alabama earlier this year,
in order to qualify for participation on the international level.

Nikki Schurr took sixth place in the watercolor art category from among
several thousand entries in the arts and crafts area. Each of the students
from Faith Christian Academy registered in multiple categories and were
awarded certificates for their competition entries.

The school’s involvement in the International Student Convention was made
possible through the financial support of local patrons. Area businesses
contributing to this year’s event are: Mechanic’s Bank, Dr. Barry Weeks,
People’s Bank, Crawford and Associates, Union Planters Bank, Dr. Joe
Walker of Walker Diagnostics, B&M Building Supply, Larson’s Piggly
Wiggly, Holloway Homes, Jitney Jungle, and Brown’s Used Cars.

Also contributing were the following individuals, whose support is most
appreciated: Tommy and Liz Reynolds, Greg Jones, Buddy Wally, Brian
Mize, James Rounsaville, Ron Ostrander, Steve Jones, Judy Watson, Joe
Potts, and Virginia Porter.

Faith Christian Academy, now in its twenty-first year of serving Water Valley
and the surrounding areas, is a ministry of Faith Baptist Church. The public is
