Our Town's History (In a Nutshell)

    
              In the days of the steam locomotive, Water Valley, Mississippi
          was established as the southern most hub of the Illinois Central
          Railroad (ICRR).  The above photo of Water Valley shows the
          main train yard with round house, which once dominated the town
          at the turn of the 20th century. 
              Today, the trains are gone and newer industries and homes rest
         where once great locomotives shook the ground beneath them. 
         The town's old train depot is still on the scene and houses a most
         interesting museum of railroad artifacts dating from the days of
         steam locomotion.
              When visiting Water Valley, be sure to visit the Casey Jones
         Railroad Museum in the town where the famous engineer once lived
         and housed his engine.
